Apyxx was started out of a frustration with paper files.
Its founder, Stoney Ware was 14 year veteran of the business forms and printing industry. Like all other businesses, he had all of the problems from paper that businesses today face. No one wanted to do the filing. Important documents were misfiled or lost. Expensive office space was wasted on the file room. Every year, temps were brought in to purge files to make room for new files.
One fateful day, Stoney saw a demo for a product called "electronic filing cabinet." An idea was immediately born. "Someone showed me the system and I was immediately sold. But I didn't want to buy it, I wanted to sell it!" For years, several of his vendors had been making overtures about purchasing his forms business so it was an easy decision. From day one, Apyxx Technologies has been focused on solutions that help customers become more productive.
Historically, customers have always made their purchasing decisions based upon improved productivity, customer service, space savings, and other business efficiency factors. As a business based in New Orleans and servicing the Gulf Coast, much of that has changed post-Katrina. "We had always mentioned the added benefit of disaster protection and recovery and quite frankly, no one ever purchased a system because of that. Since Katrina however, it has come to the front of the line with our prospects."
